Mercers Solicitors walk for the Chiltern Centre
On Saturday 30th September 2023 the Mercers’ team traded their usual office attire for walking boots and embarked on a 25-kilometre charity walk to raise funds for their 2023 charity partner, The Chiltern Centre.
Armed with water bottles, Mercers gilets and enthusiasm, the team gathered at Purley-on-Thames to begin the walk. The chosen route stretched along the Thames Path, leading the team from Purley-on-Thames to Henley-on-Thames, finishing at the office on New Street.
The walk started off strong and the team remained unfazed as the kilometres were counted down. Spirits remained high on arrival at Coppa Club in Sonning (the first pit stop) and after a cold refreshment the team headed back on the path towards Shiplake. After some minor navigational issues (it was bound to happen) the team made it to the Baskerville in Lower Shiplake where a few complaints about sore knees and hips started to surface. Despite the aches and pains the team pushed through and made it all the way to the office before celebrating with some well-deserved food and drinks in the Bull on Bell Street.
None of this would have been possible without the overwhelming support from the firm’s clients, staff and other local businesses. Sponsors generously contributed to the cause, enabling us to surpass our target of £1,000 and raise £1,317. To add to this achievement, the firm’s equity partners, Guy Barker and Peter Hopkins matched the initial target of £1,000, resulting in an impressive total of £2,317 raised for the Chiltern Centre.
A special thanks to Alex Parnell and Madeline Rumble who played a massive part in the organisation of the day and to all the staff who took part – same time again next year?
