Fundraising and Sponsorship
We are pleased to be able to support local and national causes and play an active role in fundraising for a variety of charities.
Our main charity partner for the year 2022 is the Chiltern Centre. A purpose-built care home offering a range of services to young people with learning difficulties that empower them to live life to the full.
The Chiltern Centre was founded in 2004 as a registered charity for disabled children, initially set up by parents and supporters of local children with disabilities. For many years these services provided valuable respite to the families of children and young people with disabilities locally.
For further information on The Chiltern Centre, please visit their website here.
Mercers has also sponsored The Sacred Heart Primary School by donating £200 to their environmental project. The school plans to create a Beatrix Potter, Mr McGregors style garden to encourage children to learn about the process of growing food and plants from seeds to consumption.
Our main charity partner for the year 2021 was the Charlie Waller Trust. Mercers managed to raise £4,500 for The Charlie Waller Trust, based in Berkshire, which was set up by Sir Mark and Lady Waller, in memory of their son Charlie, who sadly took his own life whilst suffering from depression.
We are also delighted to be involved with grass roots sports in the local community. In autumn 2021 we sponsered both the AFC Henley U15s Henley Hawks, both home and away kits.
In the past Mercers Solicitors has supported a different charity quarterly and have held a variety of fundraising events to raise money for charities including Guide Dogs For The Blind, Cancer Research, Hearing Dogs For The Deaf and the British Heart Foundation.
Peter Hopkins one of Mercers partners completed the London Marathon in 2018, raising over £3,000 for the local Sue Ryder hospice.
Every year we present the Mercers Cup at the Henley Show, of which we are sponsors.

Environment
The firm is always looking for ways to reduce its carbon footprint and to reduce waste.
We actively encourage recycling with recycling bins placed in every office. We also recycle all of our used printer toners and cartridges. In order to reduce the use of printer toner further we have adopted a paper-light policy encouraging staff to print only when absolutely necessary and to print double-sided where possible, otherwise all documents are held electronically.
We try to minimise the necessity for staff to travel by organising onsite training through webinars and the use of online meeting facilities.
Our environmental policy is reviewed each year and we are constantly looking for ways to be more environmentally friendly.
