Henley Farm and Country show
Saturday 9th September 2023 saw the return of the much-loved Henley Farm & Country Show, taking place at Greenlands Farm, Hambleden.
The sun was most certainly shining for the Henley & District Agricultural Association, who put together the annual event and take great pride in providing a fun and educational day out for the whole family.
Mercers are longstanding supporters of the event and which we were delighted to sponsor once again. The Mercers’ team arrived en masse together with family and friends, looking forward to a day in the sunshine. Upon arrival we attended the show jumping competition and Madeleine Rumble was pleased to award the Mercers’ trophy and rosettes to the worthy winners.
Time for some rehydration, we attended the sponsors drinks, together with the other sponsors and HDAA committee members. This was a great opportunity to share memories of the show over the years and celebrate its success. Escaping the heat of the midday sun, we enjoyed a plentiful lunch provided by the Crooked Billet.
The Show was a great success with a wide variety of stands and attractions, not to mention the shopping opportunities! Particular favourites included the Indian runner duck herding and agricultural machinery and equipment display.
By mid-afternoon we found ourselves perusing the produce tent, which presented locally grown fruit and vegetables, needlework and floral displays amongst many other categories. We were impressed by the efforts made by the local community and those judging.
The end of the day was marked by our return home, clutching a variety of shopping and goody bags. Some walked and others enjoyed the shuttle bus service back to Henley Town Centre.
Our thanks to the organisers for another fantastic show, despite the very warm weather conditions. We look forward to the Henley Farm and Country Show 2024.
The Henley Farm and Country Show is followed by the Henley District & Agricultural Association ploughing match, which will be taking place this year on 1st October 2023 at Shiplake Farm.
